Research Study will Examine Adults and Scouts Working Together, Headed by Dr. Jennifer Urban and Dr. Miriam Linver
Posted in: College News and Events
Dr. Jennifer Urban and Dr. Miriam Linver will lead a study on how adults and scouts work together. Both Dr. Urban and Dr. Brown are Professors in the Family Science and Human Development department and co-direct the Institute for Research on Youth Thriving and Evaluation (RYTE Institute).
The study will ultimately reveal ways the Boy Scouts of America can better support its adult volunteers as they deliver on the promise of scouting.
Some of the areas where Dr. Urban focuses her scholarly interests and specialties include applied developmental science, character development, positive youth development, social-emotional development, and out-of-school activity involvement and the impact on positive and negative indicators of development.
Dr. Linver’s research reflects Bronfenbrenner’s ecological paradigm, focusing on the contexts of child and adolescent development. She has expertise in the importance of parents and families; how school and out-of-school experiences matter; and flourishing and character development as key outcomes.
