Dr. Muninder Ahluwalia, Professor in the Counseling Department, recently published a new book with co-author Dr. Rebecca L. Toporek. Dr. Toporek is a professor and department chair in the Department of Counseling at San Francisco State University. The book is entitled: Taking Action: Creating Social Change through Strength, Solidarity, Strategy, and Sustainability. It aims to help frame engagement with social justice and action, using a four-principle approach that will jumpstart personal and professional activism. The dynamic workbook helps identify personal strengths and resources, connect with like-minded individuals, and develop effective strategies to enact change, all the while encouraging self-care and care of loved ones.

Dr. Ahluwalia’s research and pedagogy interests include multicultural counseling training, intersecting identity development, racism and discrimination, and methodological issues in qualitative research.
