Angelene Agresta, a student majoring in Italian, was selected for the five-week summer internship in Florence (June-July 2016) offered by The Inserra Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies and the Italian Program at Montclair State University.

“I absolutely think that I will benefit from this opportunity,” Agresta said, “I have already worked with this surtitling studio on two separate occasions, each involving multiple plays. I believe that having the chance to work directly and in-person with Prescott Studio will be the next “step” in my future plans of continuing in the audiovisual translation field.”

This project is part of a broader initiative which has provided Italian minors and majors with the opportunity of surtitling over a dozen plays and operas presented at such prestigious venues as the Piccolo Teatro of Milan, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Opera di Roma, the Terme di Caracalla (Rome) and the Arena di Verona. The intern will work hands-on with experts from Prescott Studio on audiovisual translation projects for renowned festivals in Italy this summer. Responsibilities will include: collaboration on the translation of texts, timing, editing and deployment during live performances of surtitles, and involvement in organizational aspects of the productions.
