Education and Community Outreach
College of the Arts
The Office of Education and Community Outreach (OECO) develops community-based programs in multiple arts disciplines that serve children as well as young and older adults including university students. Several programs are topic-specific and explore the arts in relation to other subject areas such as health. While some programs are by invitation, many are open to the general public.
Examples of programming include:
The Body Talks – which examines the concept of body image and its effect on individuals, culture and society, advocating "self-acceptance" as a fundamental life skill.
The Need To Know Series – exploring areas of interest to mainstream society fostering learning, creativity, and transformation.
Arts Voyage – offering live theatre and multidisciplinary children’s workshops.
In developing its program initiatives, the OECO maintains productive partnerships with the academic units of the College of the Arts as well as external organizations such as the Alliance for Arts and Health New Jersey [AAHNJ].
