As we settle into a new academic year (some amongst us for the very first time) and prepare for the fall and winter holiday season, it’s an ideal opportunity to refresh our knowledge about fire safety standards and resources. The inaugural episode of the University of Maryland’s A. James Clark School of Engineering’s “Ask an Engineer” video series provides an entertaining look at some of the inaccuracies about fire sprinklers used as Hollywood film and TV show plot devices, and clears up these misconceptions by showing how these protection systems actually do work.   Check it out!
