The Department of Theatre and Dance’s ambitious program, The New Works Initiative (NWI), will premiere Jeff Talbott’s gripping new play Civics and Humanities for Non-Majors on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:30 pm in the L. Howard Fox Theater. The production, which tells the story of two groups of college students in two different times trying to organize politically, is the result of a year long commission awarded by NWI, giving Talbott and Director Wes Grantom the opportunity to shape the new play in collaboration with Montclair students.

Civics and Humanities for Non-Majors has already received considerable theatre industry attention- even before its opening. The play is a finalist for the prestigious 2018 National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center and Kenneth Jones, playwright and editor for Playbill.com, features the production in his blog.
