Admission to Minors in Theatre and Musical Theatre

Major-Specific Guidelines

To become admitted into a Minor in either Theatre or Musical Theatre, students must be already enrolled in the university and follow the program-specific guidelines below.

(Note: After admission to the programs and completion of the required Minor course sequence(s), students in their senior year must request that the Registrar’s Office certify on university records that the minor was completed in order to have the minor credited on their transcript.)

Theatre Minor

Applicants for the Theatre Studies Minor must follow the same steps as for the BA Theatre Studies Program. (See Admission to Theatre Studies) In submitting materials, specify that you are applying for the Minor as opposed to the BA program.

Musical Theatre Minor

Applicants for the Musical Theatre Minor must schedule an audition and interview appointment. Appointments are individually scheduled and do not coincide with either the BFA Acting or Musical Theatre audition schedules.

Prepare for the Audition:

  • two (2) songs that demonstrate your vocal skill
  • an acting monologue (maximum length 2-4 minutes)

Once enrolled, students will be required to audition for any musical productions offered as part of the Department’s production program.
