Winter Services and Calendar

The Information Technology Division, which includes the IT Service Desk and the public computing labs, will operate on a modified schedule beginning on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, through Monday, January 18, 2020. For more detailed information on services, please go to the main IT website.  Please see below for that modified schedule:

IT Service Desk

Wednesday, November 25 – December 14

The IT Service Desk (Located on the 5th floor of University Hall) will begin modified hours on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, and close at 10 pm and will reopen on Monday, November 30, 2020. We will be closed on Thursday, November 26, and will offer limited support via email only from Friday, November 27, Saturday, November 28, and Sunday, November 29 between 10 am-5 pm.

  • Beginning Monday, November 30 through Monday, December 14th the IT Service Desk will continue to follow our current fall schedule:
    • Monday-Friday: 7:00am–12:00am
    • Saturday: 8:30am-4:30pm
    • Sunday: 3:00pm-11:00pmwith the exception that onsite support will not be available after 5 pm Monday through Friday and on weekends.

Tuesday, December 15, 2020 – Monday, January 18, 2021

The IT Service Desk (Located on the 5th floor of University Hall), will operate on a limited schedule beginning Tuesday, December 15, 2020, through Monday, January 4, 2021.

  • Tuesday, December 15 – Wednesday, December 23 (Weekdays only)
    • 8 am – 5 pm: Support available via phone, email, chat, or self-service; Onsite Support will only be by appointment only (no walk-ins)
  • Saturday, December 19 – Sunday, December 20
  • Thursday, December 24
    • 8 am – 4 pm: Support available via phone, email, chat, or self-service; Onsite Support will only be by appointment only (no walk-ins)
  • Friday, December 25: Closed
  • Saturday, December 26 through Thursday, December 31
  • Friday, January 1, 2021: Closed
  • Saturday, January 2, 2021 – Sunday, January 17, 2021
    • Monday – Friday: 8 am – 5 pm: Support available via phone, email, chat, or self-service; Onsite Support will only be by appointment only (no walk-ins)
    • Saturday and Sunday: 8 am – 5 pm: General support via phone to 973-655-7971, option 1 or email itservicedesk@montclair.edu
  • Monday, January 18, 2021: Closed

Public Computing Labs

Wednesday, November 25, 2020 – Monday, December 14, 2020

The Information Commons Computing Lab and the Laptop Lending Lab, located on the 5th floor of University Hall, will close Wednesday, November 25 at 10 p.m. and reopen on Monday, November 30 with a modified schedule:

    • Saturday 10 am – 5 pm
    • Sunday – Closed
  • UNCART Laptop Lending Lab
    • Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm

  • The Sprague Library Laptop Lending Lab will remain closed through the end of the Spring 2021 Semester.
  • The Surf-N-Print Lab, located in the lower level of the Student Center, will close Wednesday, November 25 at 10 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

The Information Commons Computing Lab and the Laptop Lending Lab, located on the 5th floor of University Hall will operate on the following schedule:

  • Information Commons Computing Lab: Closed and will reopen on Tuesday, January 19 at its scheduled time
  • UNCART Laptop Lending Lab
    • Tuesday, December 15 – Wednesday, December 23 (Weekdays only): 8 am – 5 pm
    • Thursday, December 24: 8 am – 3 pm
    • Friday, December 25, 2020 – Sunday, January 3, 2021 – Closed
    • Monday, January 4 – Sunday, January 17

The Sprague Library Laptop Lending Lab will remain closed through the end of the Spring 2021 Semester.

The Surf-N-Print Computing Lab, located on the ground floor of the Student Center, will be closed until the start of the Spring 2021 semester.

The Public Computing Labs will return to its scheduled time on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

Maintenance and Downtime 
Information Technology will be performing maintenance on certain components of the campus network infrastructure between Tuesday, December 15, 2020, through Sunday, January 3, 2021. These maintenance activities will produce sporadic service interruptions and degraded performance of wired network ports and wireless access points for periods of 15 to 45 minutes.

With the exception of the planned service interruptions outlined above, any significant problems with the University’s hardware and software systems will be announced on the IT Service Desk telephone line (973-655-7971, option 1) and on the IT Service Systems Status web page.
