Community Message

The University Safety Committee is comprised of individuals across many spectrums of our campus community and includes faculty, staff and students. Members work with University Police, Facilities and University Administration to continually reassert our commitment to safety at Montclair State University – a place many call home.

The Committee reports regularly to the President, the Chief of Police and the Vice Presidents of Student Development and Campus Life and Facilities. If you have any concerns regarding the safety plans at Montclair State or wish to plan a program for your area on a variety of topics, contact University Police at msupolice@montclair.edu or our Managing Director of Emergency Preparedness, Richard McAuliffe at mcauliffer@montclair.edu.

What If?

As we return from the Spring Recess, we hope you take the time to review our University’s “What If…” web page which has a wealth of suggestions and what to do when faced with critical, stressful and dangerous incidents from a fire alarm to a suspected active shooter incident.

Throughout the pandemic we have all worked together to be together again and it has worked. A safe environment for all is an essential component of this. Remember, you can rely upon the trusted communications from a University sponsored source, such as RAVE alerts, University emails or University sponsored social media outlets.
