Sign Up for 4th of July Fun!

Montclair State University has been invited to participate in Montclair Township’s Independence Day parade!

We are thrilled to extend the invite to students to join the community celebration on Tuesday, July 4th! Be at the heart of the festivities by riding on our parade float with President Koppell and Rocky or walking alongside us through the streets of Montclair. Toss out candy and Montclair State University swag to the thousands of spectators lining the town streets. The parade is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our vibrant campus to the local community! If you would like to represent the University and participate in the celebration, please register to secure your spot in the parade!

About the Parade

  • Date/Time: Tuesday, July 4, 11 a.m.
  • Line-up time: 10:30 a.m.
  • Line-up Location: South Fullerton Avenue area
  • Distance: 1.6 miles
  • Attendance: Thousands of parade spectators line the parade route

Some More Details

Parade Route and Length: The parade will start in the area of South Fullerton Avenue and end near Edgemont Park. The parade route is approximately 1.6 miles. Bring a wagon or stroller for younger children. Depending on the final number of participants, we may need to rotate those riding on the float and walking alongside. Please indicate if you have any access accommodations when registering.

Parking: Parking is free. More information about parking and street closures will be sent via email. Note: the parade starts on South Fullerton Avenue and ends in Edgemont Park. Participants are responsible for finding transportation back to their vehicle at the end of the parade route.

Shuttle Service: For your convenience, we will provide a complimentary round-trip shuttle service to and from the parade. The shuttle will leave the Red Hawk Deck at 10 a.m. and drop participants at the Montclair State University float. Shuttles will pick up participants at Edgemont Park at the conclusion of the parade. You must register for a seat on the shuttle.

Community Picnic: A community picnic at Edgemont Park will be held at the conclusion of the parade. Parade participants are not required to stay for the picnic.

Spots Are Limited: Early registration is encouraged and may be closed once we hit capacity.

Attire: Please wear Montclair State University attire and comfortable shoes. Montclair State University t-shirts will be provided (but sizing cannot be guaranteed). Don’t forget sunscreen and water!
