This past year Montclair State University has suffered financial losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has reduced the University’s revenues.  In an effort to conserve funds for this fiscal year, Information Technology has extended computer leases that were scheduled to expire from January 2020 through June 30, 2021.

The extension from 4 years (48 months) to 5 years (60 months) will affect 800 desktops and laptops that were scheduled to be replaced this fiscal year. These computers will remain in place and will continue to be supported for issues that fall within normal wear and tear. The computers will be replaced as they reach 60 months.  We are encouraging all replacement computers to be laptops versus desktops, where feasible.

Confirm when your computer lease is due

We will review and make a decision in the spring regarding when we will replace computers that have 4-year leases expiring in FY22.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the IT Service Desktop or your local academic technology department.
