University Will Operate Remotely Tues., Feb. 13

Both Montclair and Bloomfield campuses will be remote on February 13, 2024.

Montclair State University will shift to fully remote operations on Tuesday, February 13 due to the storm. There will be no in-person activities, classes or meetings on both the Montclair and Bloomfield campuses.

  • Administrative offices and the libraries will provide services remotely. The offices and libraries will not be open for in-person services.
  • In-person classes, labs and studios – classes, labs and studios that can do so should move to remote delivery.
  • Online classes will meet as scheduled.
  • Campus activities and in-person meetings are canceled.

The University plans to resume normal operations on Wednesday, February 14. A message will be sent if that plan changes.

Information for Instructors

  • Changing courses from in-person to remote delivery is an exception for Tuesday, February 13 only. As a reminder, in-person classes normally should not be switched to online delivery unless approved by the dean.
  • Classes, labs and studios that cannot be delivered remotely on Tuesday must make up the instructional time during the spring 2024 semester.
  • Instructors should let their students know if classes will be moved online or how they will be made up during the semester.

Information for Staff Members

  • Essential employees should report as scheduled.
  • All other employees whose job duties can be performed remotely are expected to work remotely, except for those who have already been approved to use paid leave. Any previously-approved paid time off will be charged.
  • Employees who will be working remotely should bring their laptops and any necessary information home with them tonight.
  • Contact your supervisor if you have any questions about working remotely.

Parking and Shuttles

Montclair campus residents and staff must move their cars parked in surface lots to one of the parking decks (CarParc or Red Hawk) tonight, after 10 p.m. Cars must be moved to allow for snow removal!

Cars parked in the Bloomfield campus 225 Liberty St. lot, should be moved to along the fence at the east end of the lot by 10 p.m. tonight.

Montclair campus shuttles will stop running as of 1 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13 and are expected to resume operating at 2 p.m. on Tuesday (updated time), if conditions allow.

Dining

The following dining options will be available:

  • Montclair campus: Sam’s and Freeman Hall dining will run on a normal schedule. Update: Blanton Hall Dunkin Donuts, Jersey Mikes, Smash Burger and the Kosher Kitchen are open and will remain on their regular schedule. Yella’s at Sam’s Place will open at 5 p.m. and operate on normal hours. Check What’s Open for specific times.
  • Bloomfield campus: Residential dining will be open on a regular schedule, with no late night service. Deacon’s Den will be closed.
