Now that you’ve been accepted to Montclair State, complete the steps below to enroll as a full-fledged Red Hawk! If you have any questions about our enrollment process, please email email@example.com or call 973-655-4444.
Your Campus-Wide ID (CWID) and PIN are your keys to becoming a Montclair State student.
These were assigned to you when you were accepted to the University. You will find your CWID and PIN in your acceptance letter. You will use your CWID and PIN to submit your New Student Deposit.
To reserve your place at Montclair State, simply submit your new student deposit payment* online by the posted deadline.
To pay your deposit, use your Campus Wide ID (CWID) provided in your acceptance letter. Log in using your CWID (the eight-digit number) in the “Name” field and your PIN, which is your six-digit date of birth (MMDDYY), in the “Password” field.
If you are planning to live on campus, you may also submit your housing deposit* at this time. Once your new student deposit and housing deposit are processed, you may complete the online Housing Application. You must complete the Housing Application by May 1. Students will be emailed during the month of May about our housing selection process, which takes place in June.
*The new student deposit and housing deposit are non-refundable. On-campus housing is guaranteed for students who have paid their housing deposit by May 1. Housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis for those who pay their housing deposit after May 1.
Please allow 24-36 hours for your payment/s to be processed before moving on to Step 3.
Your NetID is your Montclair State email account login ID and your ID for other web-based University systems. Your NetID and instructions for how to activate it will be emailed to you 2-3 business days after you deposit. Please note: As a new student, you should only choose the “CWID” or “SSN” related challenge questions.
After you activate your NetID, please wait a minimum of 24 hours before attempting to access other University systems outside of NEST.
Once your NetID has been activated, you will begin receiving communications to your Montclair State email account from your academic advisors and other University staff. To log in, visit gmail.com, enter your NetID@montclair.edu, use your NetID password and click “Sign in”.
Montclair State University will be hosting a pre-fall Red Hawk Orientation program for all new students (freshmen and transfers) and their families! The University has partnered with Med+Proctor to review students’ immunization documentation. Within 48 hours of activating your NetID (step 3 of the checklist), you will be able to access the Med+Proctor portal to upload your vaccination records. Immunization Requirements for Montclair students are viewable here. The COVID-19 vaccination, or an approved medical/religious exemption, is required for all Montclair State students. Please follow these steps:
- Submit all immunization documentation through Med+Proctor. (Please note, requests for medical exemption must be uploaded to MyHealthPortal.) Immunization records and requests for religious exemption must be submitted to Med+Proctor. You’ll need to create an account and will communicate directly with Med+Proctor regarding your immunization records and compliance status. Learn more about how to submit your immunization forms Via Med+Proctor.
- All full-time Montclair State students are required to have health insurance coverage. Montclair State will automatically enroll you in the Student Health Insurance Plan provided through the University. If you have private health insurance coverage, you must waive this enrollment by showing proof of other insurance. You can waive the enrollment and health insurance premium fee by going to University Health Plans and completing the waiver process. Deadlines will be posted once the fall semester begins. Please check your email at that time for updates.
Don’t delay! You may be de-registered from your courses if your vaccination records aren’t received by posted deadlines.

To assist in making a smooth transition to life as a Red Hawk, all newly admitted first-year students are pre-enrolled in courses for their first semester. All schedules are created by an academic advisor in consultation with your academic department.
For Fall Students: Please complete your First-Year Schedule Questionnaire ASAP. Your schedule will not be finalized until you complete the First-Year Questionnaire.
For Spring Students: You will hear directly from your advisor about your schedule prior to the start of the semester.
After your schedule is built, your academic advisor will invite you to a welcome meeting to talk about what to expect before the fall semester begins. We strongly encourage you to prepare for your first advising meeting by viewing our Academic Advising 101 Videos beforehand. You’ll also connect with your academic advisor during various Orientation activities this summer, where you will learn more about how you will create your educational plan and have any questions about your class schedule answered.
Your final high school transcripts (including graduation date), official AP and CLEP score reports from College Board, dual-enrollment and other early college program transcripts, must be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Your degree progress and fall schedule may be impacted if all final and official transcripts are not received by Montclair State before the start of your first semester of enrollment.
