SCM Academic Advising

Connect With Us

The advising team of the School of Communication and Media is ready to connect with you at all times. We can be a great resource as you navigate through your academic program and try to make decisions about course selection, graduation requirements, co-curricular activities, minor programs of study, and internships. We want all our students, from first-year students, to transfer students and even seniors to connect with us throughout your academic journey to ensure you remain on track with your program, graduate on time, and have the most rewarding and rich academic experiences.

Advising is key to a successful academic career. Be proactive and seek our help: bring your questions, ideas, and concerns to us so that we can help you move forward successfully. Our academic advisors and faculty advisors are committed to your success.

Current students: Please contact your assigned faculty advisor to schedule an advising appointment. During the summer months, please feel free to send advising questions to the SCM Academic Advising team at SCMAdvising@montclair.edu

Transfer students: Schedule a group advising session via our Eventbrite page. During these sessions, you will meet with an academic advisor to learn more about the advising resources and tools to get you ready to register for classes. In the meantime, please review the Transfer Student Checklist to begin your onboarding. You will be assigned a faculty advisor at the start of the upcoming semester. Still have questions and concerns? Please email the SCM Academic Advising team at SCMAdvising@montclair.edu.

The School’s advising office is located in Morehead Hall (room 116). Out of an abundance of caution right now, and to ensure the health and safety of our students and academic and faculty advisors, we want to encourage all students to seek academic guidance and advice from us and your faculty advisors through virtual sessions.
