Been thinking about living on campus? This spring you could join over 3,200 students for a safe and robust college experience by becoming a Montclair State resident! You’ll be a part of a diverse and inclusive campus community that will allow you to gain a sense of personal independence that will stay with you throughout the course of your life.

Why Live on Campus?

Imagine if you could spend less time in the car and more time getting involved? Montclair State provides our residential community a space to live, learn and have some fun! This spring, our campus will be full of activities and things to do with in-person and virtual programming sponsored by Campus Recreation and the Center for Student Involvement. Not to mention, our student athletes are back! Watch the Women’s Basketball team kick off their season on Monday, January 25, 5 p.m., as it streams live on the Red Hawk Sports Network YouTube Channel.

Residence Life offers a multitude of different styles and spaces to make your home away from home as comfortable as possible! With many different and unique residence halls, you can join the residential community that’s perfect for you. We offer apartment, suite and community style living options all across campus to students of any class standing.

In addition, Residence Life has been actively creating a safe bubble for our campus community to live, learn, and grow during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. We have implemented many safety measures that include move-in testing as well as monthly scheduled testing throughout the semester, increased sanitation and cleaning in high touch areas of our buildings, increased training on social and physical distancing, as well as a robust quarantine and isolation protocol for students who are potentially exposed. With increased procedures on campus, there is a much greater chance of exposure off campus than living and learning on campus!

Expectations for Living on Campus

Specifically, students are required to and expected to complete the following as an extra measure to keep the campus community safe!

Where Do I Start?

If you are looking to join our on-campus community, here’s how you can apply today! The first step in becoming a resident is to email the Office of Residence Life at reslife@montclair.edu and request a housing application for the spring 2021 semester.

A member of our team will create an application for you and provide details on how to complete the application in our system, the Residential Management System (RMS). Once available, you will be able to complete your housing application, which includes submitting preferences for your ideal housing assignment.
