Best Practices for Leveraging New Connections!

You’ve taken the first step by attending the fair and networking with amazing employers! So, what’s next?

Follow-up

  • Craft a simple thank-you email and send it to the recruiters you spoke with at the fair. Personalize it by mentioning something specific from your conversation, discussing an open position, or highlighting something you love about their organization or business.

Stay Organized

  • If you collected business cards, input the information into an Excel document to ensure you don’t misplace any names or numbers. If you didn’t, head over to Handshake and review their company pages to find relevant contact information and keep track of your outreach and applications.

Apply

  • Ensure that your resume is tailored for the position and emphasize relevant experiences, plus education and skills.

Connect on LinkedIn

  • Building a professional network takes time, so start now and stay updated on industry trends and available positions.
