Spotlight On

Dr. Chantelle Wright, Executive Director for Experiential Education and Career Connections at Montclair State University.

Earlier this month, Chantelle shared her insights and experiences on “I Do Declare” University College’s Podcast. Here are some highlights from her discussion with Tabitha Riley:

Podcast Highlights

  1. Be Open to Change: Dr. Wright emphasizes that “life is not linear, be open to whatever happens and don’t be afraid to share your experiences.” Remaining open to new opportunities and experiences is key to personal and professional growth.
  2. Create a Supportive Network: “Networking can be difficult, especially if you’re introverted…but that’s okay!” She finds it helpful to “connect with at least one person at every event that I go to and start from a personal level…it’s all about making friends and getting to know people.” Building a supportive network can provide valuable guidance and opportunities.
  3. Where You Start Out Is Not Always Where You End Up: “Sometimes you need time to explore and to figure out what your interests are and what you like, but the only way to do that is to try things.” Assessment tools such as Focus-2 and Skillful.ly can be incredibly helpful in this journey of self-discovery.
