ARTS/ENTERTAINMENT//ACTIVITIES
A number of significant cultural event series that are open to all MSU students add to the interest and excitement of campus life. In addition to presenting the talents of our students and faculty through these activities, you are exposed to distinguished artists from around the nation and the world. The Department of Theater and Dance presents several plays and dance concerts in five performance venues on campus each semester. Similarly, the Department of Music offers major concerts in various venues several times each semester, as well as weekly vocal and instrumental performances in the Music Recital Hall. The Department of Art and Design's Art Forum presents weekly afternoon talks by visual artists, and in collaboration with University Art Galleries, sponsors regular art exhibitions in several spaces. The Department of Broadcasting produces Carpe Diem, a weekly show on Cablevision Channel 77, COMCAST Channel 26, and Montclair Channel 34. This department also produces 20 episodes per year of Inside MSU, and regularly collaborates with NJN. The Department of Communication Studies often sponsors Special Speaking Events, e.g., the Danis Eaton Public Speaking Scholarship Competition. Also, year-round, the "Division of Arts and Cultural Programming"presents and produces
performances in a variety of artistic genres, especially highlighting new and innovative works.
