other services to students who wish to utilize university facilities.

THE SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE TEAM
The University has created a Sexual Assault Response Team to meet all victim needs. MSU SART is modeled after New Jersey State Standards and provides identical services on campus that would be obtained at SART sites in the state. MSU SART offers a systematic, victim-centered approach that focuses on the needs and concerns of a sexual assault victim to ensure the compassionate and sensitive delivery of services in a nonjudgmental manner. These services are available on campus twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
The Sexual Assault Response Team is composed of the following:
University Police specially trained officers that provide criminal investigation at the request of the victim.
Forensic Nurse Examiners specially licensed University Health Center nurses and nurse practitioners that provide necessary medical care, medications and -forensic evidence collection.
Rape Care Advocates County volunteers that provide emotional support, education and referrals as needed.
In the event of a sexual assault either on or off campus, the student is encouraged to report the incident to University Police at 655-5222 or the University Health Center Center at 655-4361. Contacting these departments does not require the victim to file criminal or disciplinary charges. It does ensure that the victim receives appropriate medical treatment. At that time, the victim will be offered the services of the Sexual Assault Response Team and may accept or decline any or all of the services. If someone prefers not to contact University Police or the University Health Center, other choices are the Dean of Students, the Women's Center, Counseling and Psychological Services or Residential Education & Services staff. All members of these departments have thorough knowledge of MSU SART and can be helpful in assisting a victim.
Students have the right to accept or decline any or all of the following options for care and services:
- Medical care
- Forensic examination for evidence collection
- Services of a Rape Care Advocate
- File a report with University Police of the incident
- File criminal charges
- File civil charges
- File disciplinary charges
- Report as a Jane/John Doe victim
- Seek services off campus
All services of the Sexual Assault Response Team are consistent with the New Jersey Campus Sexual Assault Victim's Bill of Rights. The bill stipulates that victims of campus-related sexual assault are entitled to the following:
- the right to have allegations of sexual assault treated seriously;
- the right to be treated with dignity;
- the right to be treated for injuries inflicted in the assault;
- the right to have sexual assaults investigated and adjudicated by the appropriate authorities with the full and prompt cooperation and assistance of campus personnel;
- the right to be free from pressure from campus personnel to report or refrain from reporting crimes, or to report crimes as lesser offenses than the victims perceive the crimes to be;
- the same right, during any campus disciplinary proceeding involving the accused, to legal assistance and to have others present, that the accused is entitled to have; and
-the right to be notified of the outcome of any disciplinary proceeding against the accused, as some examples.
