Special Open Enrollment April 1 – April 30, 2026
Posted in: Benefits News
The New Jersey Division of Pensions and Benefits (NJDPB) has announced a Special Open Enrollment period for employees enrolled in the State Health Benefits Program (SHBP).
At this time, Human Resources has not yet received full details from the State regarding the specific plan updates. However, we are sharing this early notice to ensure employees are aware of the upcoming Special Open Enrollment opportunity.
As soon as additional information becomes available from NJDPB, including plan details, comparisons, and rate charts, it will be shared with the campus community.
Why Is There a Special Enrollment Period?
The State has shared that updates to SHBP medical plan offerings for 2026 are expected. This Special Open Enrollment will allow employees to review available medical plan options and make changes if they choose.
- The Special Open Enrollment applies only to employees who are currently enrolled in medical plans. No dependent changes may be made during this enrollment period.
- Employees who do not wish to make any changes will automatically be defaulted to the 2026 version of their current medical plan and will receive new ID cards.
Enrollment Timeline
- Special Open Enrollment Period: April 1 – April 30, 2026
- Effective Date of Changes: Changes made during this Special Open Enrollment will become effective July 1, 2026.
Beginning April 1, 2026, employees will be able to log into the Benefitsolver via MyNewJersey portal or mynjbenefitshub.nj.gov to review plan options and make changes.
