The University will be closed on the day following Thanksgiving (Friday, November 24, 2023) and four (4) non-holiday workdays between December 25 (Christmas Holiday observed) and New Years’ Day 2024, (December 26, 27, 28, and 29). In order to cover these five (5) workdays, CWA employees assigned a 35-hour workweek shall work on the following modified holiday schedule:
- Columbus Day (October 9, 2023), 8:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Lunch Break = 30 minutes, no breaks
- Election Day (November 7, 2023), 8:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Lunch Break = 30 minutes, no breaks
- Veterans’ Day (November 10, 2023), 8:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Lunch Break = 30 minutes, no breaks
The employee may apply compensatory and/or earned leave time, except sick leave, to cover the remaining requisite hours. if employees do not have sufficient compensatory or leave time, they may elect not to be compensated for the days on which the University will be closed.
Hours worked on Columbus Day, Election Day and/or Veterans’ Day by CWA unit permanent part-time employees with at least a 50% time schedule will be credited as compensatory time at the rate of time and one half.
All other terms and conditions of the CWA State Agreement shall remain in effect.
